Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative launches the AD Discovery Portal
The AD Discovery Portal is a user-friendly, publicly accessible dataset catalog designed to enable researchers to explore novel Alzheimer's disease data that are available via AD Workbench – a secure, free, cloud-based data sharing and analytics environment. The Portal offers a diverse collection of data, including imaging, omics, clinical, and multi-modal datasets, providing a comprehensive resource for researchers.
Key features of the AD Discovery Portal include:
- Public Availability: Anyone can browse the AD Workbench collection of datasets without needing to log in or requesting a Workspace.
- Data from Diverse Sources: The Discovery Portal features catalog entries from across industry and academia, leveraging interoperability with data platform partners including Answer ALS, the American Heart Association, Dementias Platform UK (DPUK), The Global Alzheimer's Association Interactive Network (GAAIN), Vivli, European Platform for Neurodegenerative Diseases (EPND), Health Data Research UK (HDRUK), and others.
- Intuitive Search and Filtering: Easily navigate the Portal to find datasets based on key metadata such as modality, access type, and participant numbers.
- Interactive Data Visualization Tools: Uncover high-level insights into datasets at-a-glance with built in visualization tools.
- Fully Integrated with AD Workbench: Discover new datasets, then request and analyze them using the full suite of powerful analytic tools available on Workspaces via AD Workbench.
The AD Discovery Portal also adheres to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), ensuring that datasets are easily discoverable, accessible under clear conditions, and optimized for collaboration and reproducibility.
"The new AD Discovery Portal and its integration with AD Workbench will enable seamless discovery and exploration of novel Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias datasets and will help streamline data sharing, access and analysis,” said Niranjan Bose, Interim Executive Director, AD Data Initiative. “By offering an intuitive, publicly accessible catalog, we empower researchers to more easily discover datasets available via the AD Workbench. We look forward to seeing the research community harness its potential and continuing our work with partners to further enhance the AD Discovery Portal.”
We invite researchers, scientists, and experts engaged in the ADRD field to explore the AD Discovery Portal and access available datasets via the AD Workbench. By making data more easily findable, shareable and analyzable, the AD Discovery Portal and AD Workbench equip researchers with the tools needed to accelerate Alzheimer's research and unlock new discoveries.
About the Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative
The Alzheimer’s Disease Data Initiative is a coalition of leading academic, advocacy, government, industry, and philanthropy organizations that recognizes the need for dementia researchers to find easier ways to share unpublished data, analytical tools, and scientific findings. These partners are working together to accelerate progress towards new diagnostics, treatments, and cures in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
