University of Kansas ADRC GNPC Dataset: Annual Longitudinal Data for Alzheimer's Research

The University of Kansas Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (KU ADRC) dataset provides annual, longitudinal demographic, clinical, cognitive, and proteomic data on adult participants across a range of cognitive status. As one of more than 40 centers contributing to the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center (NACC) network, KU ADRC collects this data annually using NACC's standardized Uniform Data Set (UDS) protocol and contributes proteomic measures to the Global Neurodegeneration Proteomics Consortium (GNPC).

What Researchers Can Do with this Dataset

This dataset supports research into cognitive decline trajectories, biomarker discovery, and the relationship between proteomic signatures and clinical dementia progression. Its longitudinal design makes it well suited to studies tracking how cognitive and biological measures change within the same participants over time, and its NACC-standardized structure supports federated data analysis alongside UDS data from other Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers nationwide. 

Because KU ADRC follows the same NACC UDS collection protocol used across the national ADRC network, researchers can combine this dataset with UDS data from other centers to build larger, harmonized analytic cohorts without re-mapping variables or reconciling divergent collection methods. The inclusion of proteomic measures alongside standard clinical and cognitive data also supports mixed-methods research designs, for example studies pairing biomarker trajectories with neuropsychological test performance to identify early proteomic signals of decline before clinical symptoms progress. Researchers working on cross-cohort validation, biomarker-to-phenotype mapping, or replication studies across ADRC sites are likely to find this dataset a useful addition to their analytic pipeline.

AD Workbench provides free compute, virtual machines, and multimodal analysis tools and allows researchers to bring their own code, models, and approved external datasets into their workspace.
